The Convocation Ceremony of Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering and Technolgy, Payyanur, 2022 was conducted for the students of 2020 and 2021 batches on 2nd July, 2022. The ceremony commenced with the Welcome Address by Dr. Leena AV, Principal. The occasion was graced with the Board of Directors Sree Bhakthi Samvardhini Yogam, Talap, Kannur. The Vice President of Sree Bhakthi Samvardhini Yogam, Talap, Kannur Shri Rajendran TK delivered the Presidential address. “Deekshant 22” was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. Sudha UPV, Senior Scientist, DRDO Bangalore who lighted the lamp and delivered the inaugural address. Professor Raveendran K, Vice Principal and Shri Ashok Hegde, Administrative Officer, SNGCET delivered the felicitations. The Engineers Pledge was taken by the students. The Management of Sree Bhakthi Samvardhini Yogam honoured the former administrators of SNGCET who had toiled for the institution during their tenure. The toppers were honoured with memento by Shri CC Mohanan, Director, SBSY and the certificates were awarded to the graduates by the Chief Guest Dr. Sudha UPV “Deekshant 22” was a celebration of success for the Management, Staff, Students and Parents. The ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Susan Abraham Dean UG & PG students, SNGCET.


The International Women in Engineering Day was celebrated on 23-06-22. All the Women faculty and female students gathered at the Seminar Hall. The students were motivated by the Principal, Dr. Leena A V and Dr. Susan Abraham, Dean UG and PG Studies, they cited several examples of outstanding women Engineers and encouraged the students to aspire to excel in future. A large cake was cut and distributed to the budding women engineers.


The 8th International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June 2022 in the campus. International Yoga Day is a day to celebrate the Indian practice of yoga and to raise awareness about its importance. Mr. Rajeesh P, HOD ME who is also a Yoga Trainer delivered a talk on the importance of yoga practice in day to day life. A yoga session was conducted for the staff members of the college. Prof. O Unnikrishnan, HoD Physical Education delivered an awareness talk about the importance of exercise & practicing yoga regularly to achieve a stress free life style.


A Nature Club was constituted in the college on the event of World Environment Day. Nature Club activities was inaugurated by the Principal Dr. Leena A V. The main objective of forming the club is to maintain a green and clean campus. The Mission of the club will be to conscientize and promote an environmental – friendly Campus. Environment Week Celebrated by the Nature Club with various activities – cleaning campus, planting of trees, invited talk by Mr. Padoli Ravi, Environmental Activist and plantation programs by the students.


The Annual General Body meeting of PTA was held on 28th May’2022. The meeting was presided by the college Principal Dr. Leena A.V, who is also the President of the PTA. Sri. Ashok Hegde L, AO delivered the welcome address After the Presidential address by the Principal there was a special session for the parents by Lt. Col C Preveen , Former AO of SNGCET. PTA vice President also addressed the parents. The Annual Report of the PTA was presented by PTA Secretary Ms. Leena Narayanan. To honour the outgoing PTA Executive Committee member Smt. Bushra Jamshid, Memento was given by the Chief guest Lt. Col C Preveen . Smt. Bushra also addressed the parents. There was an interaction session for the parents. The Principal responded to the queries raised by the parents. The class toppers of all classes were given Mementos as a token of appreciation by the College PTA. Election was conducted and six new members were inducted to the PTA Executive Committee. The function concluded after delivery of vote of thanks by Prof. Raveendran K, HOD ECE & EEE. Thereafter class wise PTA (S2, S4, S6, S8) were conducted and progress reports were distributed to the parents.


APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University has resolved to join hands with the Government of Kerala to address the digital divide in the technical education. Under this scheme, the university is distributing learning materials, including laptops, to deserving students. As a part of this scheme two students from our college were eligible to receive laptops. We conducted a programme based on bridging the digital divide scheme in our college on 11th May 2022 in the Seminar Hall. Shri Ashok Hegde welcomed the gathering. The programme was presided by Dr. Leena A.V., Principal SNGCET. Honourable MLA, Payyannur Legislative Assembly, Shri T.I. Madhusoodanan Inaugurated the function. Distinguished MLA handed over the laptops to Mr.Sreehari K.K. of S6 Civil Engineering Department and Ms.AnushaJyothi of S6 of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He also distributed memento to the students of 2018-2022 batch who were successfully placed in various leading companies. Shri. Suresh Babu, Ward member, KankolAlappadambaGramaPanchayatand Prof. K. Raveendran Vice Principal SNGCETdelivered the felicitation address. Mr.Safvan I.M., College Union Chairman proposed the vote of thanks.


Training and Placement Cell is to guide students to choose right career and to give knowledge, skill, and aptitude and meet the manpower requirements of the industry. The industry is always on the lookout for students who are vibrant, energetic individuals and ready to accept challenges, attentive, a good academic background, fast learners, open to learning even at work and more importantly, good communication skills. Our college Training and Placement cell conducted a one day Seminar focusing on our students’ skill development and to prepare them for the interviews. This activity focused on the personality development to make the students reliable, with a positive attitude and right decision making. We were honoured with an eminent personality, Dr. Surekha S Nair, who engaged the session. She is a Human Resources Leader with more than 2 decades of transforming organizations by designing future-ready, sustainable and scale- able HR ecosystems. The session came to be a great success with our students getting an opportunity to interact with Dr. Surekha S Nair, who helped them to learn about the non-academic expectations that a company expects from the candidates.


The annual sports day was held on 04-05-2022. The sports day was organised by the Physical Education Department of the college. The event took place in the spacious playground of the college. Sports Day is an event that’s organised by the institution where the students and staff of the college participate in various athletic events. The students competed in various sports events such as 100 Mts, 200 Mts dash, Putting the shot, javelin throw, Discus throw, long jump, football, Badminton and Tug of War. Faculty/staff members also competed in the sports meet. Dr. Leena A V, Principal of the college distributed the certificates and trophies to the winners.


Face KEAM/JEE entrance exam with confidence.Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering & Technology , Payyanur is conducting an online crash course for KEAM/JEE. Classes will commence on 9th June 2021


Arjun Raveendran KAP, Deepth purushothaman, Manas PK and Abhijith KM of Department of Mechanical Engineering have done an excellent project work with social commitment. The hydraulic lift which is used to lift the buses at KSRTC Payyanur depot was out of commission for the past few years. Students came up with an overhauling work to re-instate it so that now employees can perform the repair work with ease. The estimated cost to repair the same was around Rs. 5 lakhs but the students did it within Rs. 75000. The inauguration of re-instated lift is done by Shri. T I Madhusoodhanan, honorable MLA Payyanur at KSRTC depot on 24/07/21. Project was guided by Prof. Chandrajith E, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, SNGCET and Mr. Santhosh Aithala, Assistant Depot Engineer, KSRTC, Payyanur


Department of Mechanical Engineering has conducted a webinar on the topic "Confluence of Robotics & Industrial Automation- a Heuristic Approach" by Prof. SUMESH M, Faculty in Engineering Department, University of Technology and Applied Science, Al-Musanna, Sulthanate of Oman on 25th June 2021. The webinar was intended to acquire knowledge on “How to learn Robotics and Industrial automation by yourself".


Department of Mechanical Engineering has organized a webinar on the topic "Braking system in Indian Railways" by Dr. Vineesh K P, Assistant Professor, National Institute of Technology, Calicut on 22nd June 2021. Webinar discussed about different types of brake blocks and braking system in coaches and wagons of Indian Railways and the role of engineer during its design.


Department of Mechanical Engineering has conducted a webinar on the topic "Modern Engineering: Essentials for Excellence" by Dr. Shijin P Kozhumal, Assistant Professor, Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology Program, College of Justice and Safety, Eastern Kentucky University, Kentucky, USA on 18th June 2021. This webinar was meant to build the career of engineering students according to advancements in modern engineering and understand the essential for the excellence in modern industries.

With the advent of globalization and opening up of Indian economy to outside world, competition among industries has become stiff. To solve their engineering problems engineering institutions has a better role . Similarly, there is an urgent need to prepare engineering students for jobs in multinational companies, by exposing them to newer technologies and engineering methodologies. Training and Placement cell of Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering and Technology start a new initiative to reduce the gap between Institutions and Industry.
