Electrical And Electronics Engineering Department

Sree Narayana Guru college of Engineering & Technology was established in the year 2003. B.Tech degree programme in Electrical And Electronics Engineering was included since 2003 in the college, initially affiliated to Kannur University and approved by AICTE, New Delhi. Since 2015, after the inception of KTU, the programme is currently affiliated to Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala, and approved by Government of Kerala and AICTE, New Delhi with an intake of 30 students. The Electrical And Electronics Engineering is considered to be a core engineering programme in engineering science which serves as a starting point for careers in many engineering firms. It provides a sound foundation for people wishing to pursue a career in electrical engineering, communications, control systems, power systems, electric drives, robotics or sensor systems, through a diverse range of theoretical skills and practical experience. The department is backed with the state - of - art infrastructures and has well qualified and highly experienced faculty members. The department is focused on catering the needs of emerging electrical engineers on the theoretical and practical aspects of electrical machines, control system, power systems, Power electronics, Electrical And Electronic devices, Circuits, instrumentation, machines design, electrical system design and estimation etc. as per the academic requirements.

Department library provides access to latest reference books in the field to encourage research among faculty and students. The department has set up laboratories under experienced and well trained laboratory instructors and technicians to impart training on various aspects of electrical engineering. Every year the department organises community development programmes, National seminars, workshops and technical activities to enhance knowledge and creativity of students and faculty. The Electrical And Electronics Engineering Department is committed in delivering competent electrical engineers. They are outfitted with core technical knowledge as well as professional skills necessary to face the global challenges of the future.

Career Prospects in Electrical And Electronics Engineering

Being the core engineering programme, an Electrical And Electronics Engineering graduate has opportunities in almost every engineering organizations in the operation and maintenance areas in general and electrical engineering field in particular. A graduate in Electrical And Electronics Engineering can apply for the post of engineer in the State Government, Central Government departments and public sector undertakings and private engineering organizations. Central government services like Indian Engineering Service (IES), UPSC, Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), IOC, BPCL, BSNL, ONGC etc., offer very good job opportunities for electrical engineers. The state Public service Commission, Electricity supply authority of the state,KSEB and other electrical power producing agencies need electrical engineers for their generation, transmission and distribution network, planning, design, maintenance and operation in the power sector. Electrical engineers are welcomed by IT industry, both software and hardware, IOT, Robotics and power electronic industries. Private Electric machine manufacturing industry like L&T, GEC, Kirloskar etc also require electrical engineers in bulk. Teaching in engineering academic institution is also another area that an electrical engineer can seek for employment. Dedicated and hardworking engineers can choose Civil Services Examination for acquiring IAS, IPS, IFS and Class A officer positions in different central government departments.

To be a centre of excellence to bring out professionally competent and socially responsible electrical engineers.

  • To produce graduates with expertise in the field of electrical engineering and to contribute in the making of professional leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators.
