The Quiztronics Quiz Competition was effectively arranged on 20/10/2023 by the Department of Electronics And Communication Engineering at Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering & Technology, Payyanur. The purpose of the competition was to showcase and honor the students' knowledge and skill in the fields of Electronics and Communication. The organization, conduct, and outcomes of the competition are described in this report.
The Quiz Competition was organized as part of our department's efforts to promote intellectual engagement, encourage teamwork, and foster healthy competition among participants. This event aimed to test the general knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and quick thinking of the participants and the knowledge of current technology. The event was scheduled for 20/10/2023 and took place at the meeting hall. The selection of the date and venue was made to accommodate the participants' availability and to ensure a comfortable and conducive environment for the competition.
The quiz comprised three rounds: Preliminary, Semi-Final, and Final. Questions were designed to cover a wide range of topics within Electronics and Communication Engineering, including digital electronics, analog electronics, communication systems, microprocessors, and emerging technologies. The event was conducted by a seasoned quizmaster Mr. Vinod K Lecturer of ECE department EKNM Government Polytechnic College Trikaripur. The winners of the quiz competition can acquire certain activity points which will help them to grow in Academics. This competition was conducted in college level by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and it was a great success and marked as a significant milestone, motivating the students and staff to attend more competition of this kind to get an active involvement in organizing more such event.
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, SNGCET, Payyanur organized “Smart India Hackathon SNGCET 2023”, in association with Innovation, Entrepreneurship and R&D Centre, SNGCET, under the guidance of Dr. Raji Sukumar, Associate Professor, CSE. This was an internal selection procedure which was conducted on 6th and 7th October, 2023 for submitting new innovative ideas. Smart India Hackathon 2023 is an initiative by the Ministry of Education that offers an incredible opportunity to make a significant impact on our nation. Smart India Hackathon (SIH) is a flagship event that brings together the brightest minds from across the country to address real-world challenges through innovation and technology. This is a nationwide endeavor, dedicated to nurturing innovation, problem-solving, and fostering a culture of excellence.
There were 20 teams of six members each from all departments who presented their innovative ideas (50 ideas) as solutions to problem statements specified in SIH Website in various areas and domains. The ideas were evaluated and selected by the judges and suggestions were given by them to improve the ideas and also to add more details as per the requirements of the problem statement. Students were also made to discuss the problem statements and put forward ideas. Students were given instructions to prepare presentation slides for uploading in the main website for registering for Smart India Hackathon 2023.
This program which was conducted in SNGCET was a great success and marked as a significant milestone, motivating the students to attend more competitions at the National level and bring out their technical talents. 16 teams submitted their ideas through Smart India Hackathon 2023 website along with consent letter from college.
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering and Technology conducted a robotics workshop for Plus Two students on 27/06/2023 and 03/07/2023. This workshop aimed to provide participants with a comprehensive introduction to robotics, emphasizing Arduino programming and the creation of obstacle avoidance robots.
This workshop encompassed a wide range of sessions, hands-on activities, and demonstrations to impart practical insights into the world of robotics. The workshop began with a warm welcome by Leena Narayanan, HoD, ECE who introduced the participants to the objectives of the workshop, the importance of electronics and robotics, and the exciting prospects of pursuing careers in these fields. The hardware section was presented by Ms. Meera M,AP,ECE and software programming section was explained by Ms. Leena Narayanan.The practical session was handled by lab staff Mr. Shahith P, Mr. Sreejith K and Mr. Raveesh Kumar C P of ECE department.The event was an overwhelming success, fostering enthusiasm among the students and providing them with invaluable skills and knowledge.
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering and Technology Payyanur organized “TECHNOVA” a National Level Techfest under the banner of UDBHAVA on 27th April to 29th April 2023. The main purpose of conducting this Techfest was to inculcate in the minds of the new generation Electronics and Communication Engineering students about the incubation of the Technology and innovations of engineering ideas in Electronics and Communication Engineering. The first day (27th April 2023) of the Techfest organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering featured an exhibition of technical projects and innovations. The exhibition featured various technical projects, 3D Printer, 2D Plotter, Line following Robot, Self-Balancing Robot, Tesla Coil, Obstacle Avoiding Robot, LED Cube, Dark Room(LED Cubes, Plasma Globe, Infinity Mirror, LED Cracker) and the Game Zone. On the second day (28th April 2023) of Technova the main highlight was RoboMania. The RoboMania was conducted by Akhil R, a Science Communicator and a Social media influencer. RoboMania was followed by Humanoid Robot Show, Self -Balancing Scooter, Hand Gesture Controlled Drone and interactive session. On the last day (29th April 2023) various Technical events such as Circuitrix, Entangled, Clueminati, and Jam was held, also BSNL EXPO was conducted in association with Department of ECE. At the end of the program the winners were presented with cash prize for their wonderful achievements. TECHNOVA the National Level Tech fest was a great success and marked as significant milestone, motivating the students and staff to attend more challenges of this kind and to get an active involvement in organizing more such events.
SNGCET took part in Science & Technology Exhibition Texpo 22 conducted on 29th October at Government Technical High School, Naduvil. College had exhibited various robotic models which were assembled in the Electronics & Communication Department Lab. School students responded enthusiastically to SNGCET exhibitions when compared to various colleges in North Malabar.
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering and Technology conducted a robotics workshop for Plus Two students on 2/08/2022 and 11/08/2022 as a part of Admission cell activities. This workshop aimed to provide participants with a comprehensive introduction to robotics, emphasizing Arduino programming and the creation of obstacle avoidance robots.
The hardware section was presented by Ms. Meera M,AP,ECE and software programming section was explained by Ms. Leena Narayanan,AP,ECE.The practical session was handled by lab staff Mr. Shahith P, Mr. Sreejith K and Mr. Raveesh Kumar C P of ECE department. The participants gained knowledge of Arduino boards, fundamental programming concepts, and how to connect LEDs, sensors, and actuators to the Arduino platform. Participants actively participated in Practical coding tasks. They improved their coding abilities, sharpened their problem-solving abilities and discovered how to use Arduino to control various electronic components.
