Hands on training on basics of Quantity take- offs (QTO) was held on 26th March 2024, 9.30 AM at Civil Engineering Seminar Hall. Mr. Sudhi, Senior Faculty of IQSS was the resourse person.The session begun with the welcome speech of Mrs. Mary Sonia George, HoD,CE followed by the introduction speech of Ms. Shamya Sukumaran M, AP CE.
Introduction about QTO, Quantity Take off Manual item, Preparation of a Planning & Scheduling Time-of-completion, material flow, labour flow, and cash flow were discussed in the morning session. Live demonstration on obtaining finishing quantities for a villa project, Utilizing Plan swift software were explained in the Afternoon session. Total 17 students from S8 Civil Engineering Department participated in the training programme. The training session was so much informative to the students, they were able to catch more practical knowledge in the Quantity surveying field. Several students expressed their feedback at the end of the session.The programme concluded with the vote of thanks of Ms. Pooja K P, AP CE
A Five day workshop conducted between 25 th November 2023 to 29 th November 2023 as part of curriculum of S3 Survey Lab (CEL 203 ).The workshop was handled by staffs from Allison Informatics (P) Ltd. Workshop included detailed classes and lab session of total station instrument including area calculation, angular measurements, surveying, downloading etc. Students from S3 Civil Engineering were present. As part of the practical sessions, students were directed to survey area nearby the college by using total station. Outdoor and indoor areas of college were successfully surveyed by students by using total station which include garden area, road to canteen, nature club area , verandah etc
The Department of Civil Engineering in association with Research and Development Cell(R&D) of SNGCET and Civil Engineering Student Association( CESA) has conducted a workshop on Infrastructure Design on 24 th November2023.This informative workshop, held in association with the with Research and Development Cell(R&D) of SNGCET, aimed at meeting the societal need for qualified competence in planning, design, construction and maintenance of infrastructure systems which will contribute to long-term sustainable development. The event was featured by Mr.Pradeep Kumar, Director of HIMMA/AMMY’Z PROFESSIONAL ACADEMY, as the resource person.The workshop helped to promote the personal development of knowledge, skills and attitudes that are needed to start working as a professional engineer. Mr. Pradeep Kumar took the stage to deliver the keynote address. With his profound knowledge and expertise, he shared valuable insights into the importance of infrastructure development. He gave students a clear idea regarding the design of water main structures.
An online collage making competition conducted on behalf of CESA as part of International day for Disaster Reduction ( October 13). The competition was announced on October 13. The competition was open to all branches. After the submission deadline, the entries were evaluated by a panel of judges .Each collage was assessed based on criteria such as creativity, originality, composition, and adherence to the theme. Sravan P Hegde from S3 CE won collage making competition, from among the entries received until October 19 at 11 am.
A three day workshop conducted between 15thto 17thjune 2023 as part of curriculum of S6Civil Engineering Software Lab (CEL 334 ).The workshop was handled by staffs from CAD Centre Payyanur. The workshop inaugurated by Principal Dr.Leena A V . Workshop includes lab session regarding BIM, REVIT, MS Project. Classes about BIM, REVIT was given on 15th and 16thjune. On the last day students were given by classes regarding MS Project. Total 20 students were present in the workshop. Students were directed to do BIM regarding a multi storeyed building during the first two days, during the last day they prepared MS Project file regarding a construction work.
ARCVIL 4.0 The National Level Technical Fest organized by the Department of Civil Engineering SNGCET, Payyannur was held on 27th, 28th , and 29th of April 2023. The event started on 27th April 2023 at 9.30 AM with the Nirmiti Exhibition, which includes the exhibition of various survey instruments and models created by students of the Civil Engineering Department. The second day started with Mix Design Workshop conducted by Mr.Rabeesh A, TTR manager of Ultra Tech Cements Pvt. Ltd. The workshop provided detailed insight into concrete mixing and mix design materials. Several tech-games also conducted
Civil engineering department has undertaken Master plan preparation work for the Life mission township project at Peringome. Students from S6 CE, and faculty from the civil engineering department had a site visit at peringome. On April 14th total station survey has done on the area. Master plan and estimation has been prepared. Status updation and further discussions on the project has done at the Panchayath office in Peringome on 13th July. The township is spread across 7 acres of land and is designed to provide a total of 92 residential plots of 5 cents each. Each plot will be provided with access to road and other basic amenities like electricity, water supply, waste management and livelihood opportunities, with a focus on eco- friendly practices. The project also aims at facilities for Anganvadi, Community center cum library, Self- employment training, Recreation center, Mini shopping complex and other aids and services to improve the quality of life. Master plan along with a rough cost estimate has been submitted to the life mission authority on 17th August 2023 at collector’s chamber. SNGCET Payyannur is committed to serve the needs of society and encourage the students to apply their knowledge and skills in real life socio-technical environmental issues. As per the order of the Hon'ble National Green Tribunal (NGT) in O.A No. 673/2018, pertaining to the rejuvenation of 21 critically polluted river stretches in Kerala, it has been decided to propose short-term, long-term solutions to prevent the pollution in rivers and to restore its pristine quality through holistic approach. Our faculty and students, in association with Water Resources Department, Govt of Kerala was involved in theField studies, Water quality testing and preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) of River Peruvamba(Perumba)., Payyannur Kannur District during the period of January – February 2021.
