In association with national level Tech fest ‘UDBHAVA-2023’ held on 27th, 28th and 29th April 2023, Departmental Technical programmes are conducted under the banner of ‘YANTRA’ for Mechanical Engineering Department. Various interesting technical programmes, workshops and games are conducted as per the schedule given below.
One of the most interesting workshops was IC Engine Surgery – Engine overhauling workshop headed by Team Tech Sun Pvt. Ltd. 40 students registered and participated in a full day hands on training workshop held on 29th April 2023. In the "IC engine surgery workshop", students get first-hand experience by dis- mantling and assembling a real 4 stroke IC Engine. The hands-on training will make the students explore the knowledge about the design, components, and materials inside the IC engine. It’s a one full day session consists of expert theory class on automobile parts and engine working cycle by Mr. Sharath from Tech sun. Theory Session consists of Principle of IC engine, Basic Components of Engine, Basic Nomenclature, Classification of Engines Operation inside the engine, Basics of Power transmission Spark Plug and fuel injector, Introduction to Alternative fuels, History of automobile, engines, classification. Working cycle, strokes (2 stroke and 4 stroke), Engine Classification - fuel, stroke, CC, arrangement of pistons etc., Components of IC engine, functions, materials, Diesel engines v/s petrol engines, Real time working - animations. It is followed by hands own session on 4 stroke Bajaj pulsar DTSI engine dismantling and assembling as a team of maximum 8 members. Each participant involved in hands on session with so much interest and enthusiasm. The workshop concluded at 4.30 PM

Arjun Raveendran KAP, Deepth purushothaman, Manas PK and Abhijith KM of Department of Mechanical Engineering have done an excellent project work with social commitment. The hydraulic lift which is used to lift the buses at KSRTC Payyanur depot was out of commission for the past few years. Students came up with an overhauling work to re-instate it so that now employees can perform the repair work with ease. The estimated cost to repair the same was around Rs. 5 lakhs but the students did it within Rs. 75000. The inauguration of re-instated lift is done by Shri. T I Madhusoodhanan, honorable MLA Payyanur at KSRTC depot on 24/07/21. Project was guided by Prof. Chandrajith E, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, SNGCET and Mr. Santhosh Aithala, Assistant Depot Engineer, KSRTC, Payyanur
