Nirthya Ragha – A Cultural Offering by SNGCET Students at Talap Sree Sundareshwara Temple As part of the annual Ulsavam celebrations at the revered Sree Sundareshwara Temple, students from Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering & Technology (SNGCET) organized a vibrant and soulful cultural program titled “Nirthya Ragha”. The event, held in the temple premises, witnessed an enthusiastic gathering of devotees, art lovers, and the general public. On April 5, 2025- 7.30 PM the Dance Club and Music Band of Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering and Technology (SNGCET) organized a cultural program titled "Nirthya Ragha" at the Sree Sundareswara Temple in Talap, Kannur. The event was part of the temple's annual Ulsavam (festival) celebrations.​“Nirthya Ragha” was a fusion of classical and contemporary music and dance performances, highlighting the talents of young artists from SNGCET. The evening began with a devotional music performance by the college music band, setting a serene and spiritual tone to the event. Following the musical prelude, the stage lit up with a series of captivating dance performances. The choreography and coordination reflected the hard work and dedication of the student performers and their mentors. Event Highlights: Taal-The beat (Dance club): Students from the danceclub showcased traditional dance forms, captivating the audience with their graceful performances , Indietribe music band: The SNGCET Music Band delivered melodious renditions of classical and contemporary compositions, enhancing the festive atmosphere.​ The program attracted a diverse audience, including temple devotees, students, faculty, and local residents. Attendees appreciated the cultural richness and talent displayed by the students, fostering a deeper connection with traditional artforms.​The entire event was organized under the guidance of the college's Hobby club, with support from faculty members and temple authorities. Special appreciation was given to the Principal of SNGCET, who encouraged student participation and cultural outreach. The temple committee also expressed gratitude to the college for adding value to the Ulsavam through this meaningful artistic contribution.


The Hobby Club, in association with the Admission Cell, organized a vibrant and engaging Reels Competition on the theme “Moments of Laughter”, celebrating humor, creativity, and the joyful spirit of the campus community. The event aimed at encouraging students to showcase their wit and editing skills by creating short, laughter-filled videos reflecting campus life, relatable comedy, or spontaneous fun. The competition invited students across all departments to showcase their creativity and sense of humor through short, Instagram-style reels ranging from 30 to 60 seconds. With a submission window of one week, participants submitted their entries online. The competition was open to all students and encouraged a lighthearted take on everyday campus life. Entries were judged based on creativity, originality, relevance to the theme, and overall engagement, along with the numbers of views, likes and shares received in Instagram. Participants submitted a diverse range of reels that captured the campus life. From the overwhelming participation, several reels gained viral attention within campus circles through official social media reposts, drawing enthusiastic responses from the student community. Participants explored innovative storytelling formats, creatively blending humor with relatable scenarios, and showcased impressive editing skills and sharp comic timing that added to the charm of their entries. After careful evaluation based on the judging criteria, the following students were recognized: First Prize: Muhammed Zanil, S8 ME Second Prize:Adwaith K, S2 EEE. The event successfully fulfilled its goal of spreading laughter while also highlighting the vibrant student culture at the campus. It served as both a creative outlet and an informal promotional initiative through the Admission Cell, showcasing student life in an engaging and relatable manner.


Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering and Technology successfully organized a Mega Job Fair on February 12, 2025. The event aimed to connect employers with job seekers by providing a platform for students and job aspirants to interact with top recruiters from various industries. The event was inaugurated by Sri K.P. Balakrishnan, alongside convenor Sri T.K. Rajendran, Secretary Sri K.P. Vinod Kumar, and other directors of SBSY, as well as officials from the college. The job fair featured the participation of 53 reputable employers from diverse sectors, including IT, manufacturing, construction, banking, and automobile industries. A total of 550 candidates, consisting of fresh graduates and experienced professionals, attended the event in search of career opportunities.Each employer set up dedicated recruitment booths where candidates participated in interviews, group discussions, and skill assessments. Some companies even offered on-the-spot job offers to candidates who performed well. The job fair provided an excellent platform for candidates to network with recruiters and gain valuable insights into industry expectations. Both employers and candidates expressed satisfaction with the seamless organization of the event. Recruiters praised the quality of the fair, while job seekers found it to be highly beneficial for their career growth. The Mega Job Fair was a tremendous success, benefiting both employers and job seekers. The event not only offered job opportunities but also enhanced the relationship between academia and industry. In the future, the institution plans to hold similar initiatives regularly to better support students in their career pursuits.


Department of Civil engineering in association with Civil Engineering Students Association (CESA) conducted a one day workshop on Building Information Modelling on 5 thFebruary 2025 at the Seminar Hall & CAD Lab of Civil Engineering Department , Sree Narayana Guru College Of Engineering &Technology,Payyanur. The workshop on Building Information Modelling was coordinated by Ms.Shamya Sukumaran M , APCE. Architect Allen Seby from BIM CAFÉ, Kochi was the resource person for the BIM Workshop. He has led a highly engaging session on Building Information Modeling (BIM). The session, started at 10:00 AM, and was designed to introduce students and faculty to the fundamentals and advanced applications of BIM in the construction and architectural fields. Architect Allen Seby provided a comprehensive overview of BIM, including its software tools like Autodesk Revit, and demonstrated real-world applications such as 3D modeling, project management, and collaboration. Participants benefited from interactive learning, hands-on exercises, and indepth discussions, with many expressing newfound confidence in using BIM tools. The workshop received positive feedback for its clear presentation, practical approach, and the opportunity to apply BIM concepts directly to their academic and professional work.


The FSPrime 2.0 IoT Boot Camp was successfully organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering & Technology, Payyanur, from January 28 to February 1, 2025, in a hybrid mode. The primary objective of the boot camp was to introduce fundamental concepts of the Internet of Things (IoT) and provide hands-on experience in building IoT projects using ESP32 boards and the Arduino platform.

The boot camp followed a structured schedule:

January 28–30, 2025 – Online sessions (3 days)

January 31 – February 1, 2025 – Offline hands-on sessions at SNGCET, Payyanur A total of 48 students from S8 and S6 ECE, as well as S6 CSE, actively participated in the program. To facilitate seamless learning, students were granted access to the NIELIT Calicut LMS platform, where they could attend live and recorded sessions and receive important announcements. Login credentials were provided via email.

On the first day, January 28, 2025, a group video session was arranged at Swami Bodhananda Hall to ensure an effective and interactive learning experience.

The final two days featured hands-on IoT project development, aligning with the boot camp's agenda. The sessions were conducted by Mr. Rajesh M, Principal Investigator, Scientist E & Team Lead, NIELIT, whose engaging and insightful delivery significantly enriched the participants' learning experience. He demonstrated exceptional clarity in explaining concepts, addressing queries, and offering unwavering support throughout the sessions. He was ably assisted by Ms. Riya Rajeevan C, Project Associate, NIELIT.

The FSPrime 2.0 IoT Boot Camp proved to be a major academic event for the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback from both students and faculty. The well-structured curriculum, expert guidance, and hands-on learning approach contributed to its resounding success.


On 28-1-2025, 67 students and 11 faculty members visited the Kerala Water Authority’s Water Treatment Plant at Peruvalathuparamba. Ms. Revathi P (APCE) and Mr. Arshad KP (student s7 CE) cordinated the site visit. The visit was organized as part of the academic curriculum to provide students with practical knowledge and firsthand experience related to water treatment processes and management. The students and faculty were given a brief introduction to the plant's history, objectives, and technological advancements. The tour was led by the plant's senior engineers and technical staff, who provided an in-depth explanation of each water treatment process. The site visit to the Kerala Water Authority Water Treatment Plant at Peruvalathparamba was a valuable learning experience for both students and faculty members. The visit successfully met its objectives of exposing students to real-world water treatment processes

Department of Civil engineering in association with Civil Engineering Student Association (CESA) conducted Road Safety Awareness class as part of road safety month on 25 January 2025 at various higher secondary institutions. The road safety awareness class was coordinated by Ms.Sanjana D Nambiar (AP,CE)and Mr.Jishil K (Student coordinator) . The awareness class was very well presented along with simple slides showing the reasons behind various accidents in road and how to reduce it. It was a very interactive session with students as they asked doubts and shared their views on road safety and also the class was very valuable for the students.

Department of Civil engineering in association with Civil Engineering Students Association (CESA) conducted a quiz programme about road safety awareness as part of road safety month on 30 January 2025 at Swami Bodhananda Hall, Sree Narayana Guru College Of Engineering & .Technology,Payyanur. The road safety quiz coordinated by Ms.Sanjana D Nambiar(AP, CE)& Ms.P.Souparnika (CESA member).The quiz named “CIVIQUIZ” was conducted in 3 rounds for all students in which the first round was conducted in all semester classes of all departments. After carefully evaluating of the answers by faculties of Civil Engineering department ,the shortlisted students were selected for second round. The second round included 15 questions for duration of 15 minutes, from which 10 students were selected for the final round. The final round was conducted at Swami Bodhananda Hall from which the winners were selected. The certificates for the quiz winners were distributed by the resource persons during the Road safety Awareness talk session.

Department of Civil engineering in association with Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) conducted Road Safety Awareness class as part of road safety month on 30 January 2025 at Swami Bodhananda Hall, Sree Narayana Guru College Of Engineering & .Technology,Payyanur. The road safety awareness class was coordinated by Mr.Deepesh M.P (AP,CE) .The resource persons for the road safety awareness class was Mr.Gijesh T (Asst. Motor Vehicle Inspector, SRTO, Payyanur) and Mr. Haris E P (Asst. Motor VehicleInspector,SRTO,Payyanur ). The road safety awareness class was conducted at 2.00P.M. at Swami Bodhananda Hall, SNGCET, which began with prayer and welcome address given by Ms.Anjali P (IIC Student Coordinator). Principal Ms.Leena.A.V. gave the presidential address and the session was graced by presence of Dr.Susan Abrham (Dean Academics) and Ms.B.Mary Sonia George (Head Of Department, Civil Engineering). The certificates for the quiz competition winners were distributed by the resource persons. The chief was honoured with mementos by Principal. The awareness class was a very interactive session as they discussed about the various safety practices and also the reasons behind accidents and its precautions. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks given by Ms. Nuha Nizar (CESA member) and national anthem.


The Quiztronics Quiz Competition was successfully organized on January 23, 2025, by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering & Technology, Payyanur, in Swami Bodhananda Hall. The competition aimed to recognize and celebrate students' knowledge and skills. As part of the department’s initiative to foster intellectual engagement, teamwork, and healthy competition, the quiz was designed to assess participants' general knowledge, problem-solving abilities, quick thinking, and awareness of current technology. The competition consisted of two rounds: the Preliminary and the Final. The questions covered a broad spectrum of topics, including Electronics and Communication Engineering, general knowledge, and current affairs. The event was conducted by an experienced quizmaster, Mr. Vinod K, Lecturer in the ECE Department at EKNM Government Polytechnic College, Trikaripur. After an exciting preliminary round, the competition was narrowed down to 7 groups, each consisting of two members. The shortlisted groups were those who displayed exceptional knowledge and quick thinking across the different rounds of the quiz.The event was a success and received positive feedback from students and faculty alike, marking Quiztronics as a significant academic event for the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering.


The Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME), in association with the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC), successfully organized a "Workshop on Design Thinking" on January 15, 2025, at 9:30 AM in Swami Bhodhananda Hall. The primary goal of the workshop was to provide students with a platform to present their innovative ideas and showcase their entrepreneurial mindset. The event commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Neha K P, a sixth-semester student from the ECE Department. She extended her gratitude to all participants, faculty members, and students for their enthusiastic support and emphasized the significance of nurturing creativity and innovation in today’s fast-evolving world, encouraging students to embrace and explore new ideas. The IEDC Nodal Officers on the dais included Dr. Raji Sukumar, Mr. Rahul C G, and Ms. Soshya V C, along with the chief guest, Mr. Sadasivan K.K, a K-DISC Mentor. The workshop session, led by Mr. Sadasivan, was the highlight of the event, showcasing the creativity and entrepreneurial potential of the students. The presentations spanned a variety of topics, ranging from innovative software applications to sustainable solutions for real-world challenges. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Athirth Anish, a sixth-semester student from the ME Department. He expressed heartfelt appreciation to all participants, faculty members, students, and the IEDC team for their unwavering support, which ensured the success of the event. The "Design Thinking Workshop" was a resounding success, offering students an excellent platform to present their innovative ideas and gain valuable feedback. It highlighted the commitment of the ME Department and IEDC to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship at SNGCET. Events like these play a crucial role in preparing students to navigate the challenges and seize the opportunities of the modern world. By the end of the session, participants departed with a renewed sense of inspiration and a determination to refine their ideas further, striving to make a meaningful impact through their innovations. The workshop, marked by engaging presentations and insightful discussions, significantly enriched the academic atmosphere at SNGCET.


The faculty members and students of the Dept. of ECE (Electronics and Communication Engineering), Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering and Technology, visited KELTRON, an industrial unit in Dharamshala, on 10th January 2025, as part of our educational program. The visit gave students valuable insights into the working of a modern industry. Various production processes, machinery, and the technology used in their operations intrigued the students. The professionals at Ketron provided a detailed explanation of the various stages of manufacturing in a simple and clear manner. They also emphasized about the importance of safety measures, quality control, and teamwork in achieving efficiency. Students became enthusiastic when the theoretical knowledge from the classroom found their practical purposes in the industry. Overall, the visit was a great learning experience that helped us understand how industries contribute to economic development and innovation.


The session started at 9.15am Dr. Raji Sukumar A delivered the by the welcome speech she extended a warm welcome to all attendees and introduced the Chief Guest, Mr.Muneer Udinur {NLP Practitioner & Parenting Strategist} who was invited to explain the topic about AI. Mr.Muneer the Chief Guest, delivered a speech about AI and how AI helps to process and organize vast amount of data quickly. Applications of AI systems in healthcare to analyze medical records, detect patterns and provide faster and more accurate diagnoses .He also elaborated on AI-powered systems in finance that can identify market trends and make investment recommendations. The session was highly interactive, with students showing keen interest in the program. Several students raised queries regarding AI and its advantages and threats, which were addressed by Mr. Muneer. He explained how AI is revolutionizing the field of education by providing personalized learning experiences. AI driven reminders, task management apps, and virtual assistants help people to manage their time. Mr.Muneer explained how AI systems take over tasks that require deep thinking. This could result in a reduction in critical thinking. AI has the potential to make us smarter and to challenge our intellectual capabilities. However, over dependence on AI carries the risk of laziness and a reduction in critical thinking skills. The session concluded with a Vote of thanks by Ms.Praseena N, who thanked the resource person for his insightful presentation and the students for their participation. She encouraged the students to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by AI. Session was concluded by 3:30pm. Students were asked to give their feedback and they gave their feedback about the session.
